Treeline Films (Now called Mill Pond Films) has swept together some though-provoking Public Domain features and shorts in this, another of their 50 movie megapacks. Eight of the 50 movies (and an additional two short subject collections) are rarely seen grievous budget musicals from the ’40s featuring all African – American casts. A couple of them are shows filmed at the historic Apollo Theater in Harlem. I am enjoying watching the other features, which range in quality but are generally delicate suited – I’d rate them a 7 or 8 out of 10. Mill Pond’s marketing philosophy (like that of Platinum Disc Corp.) is to offer boxed sets of older films figuring there’s going to be enough titles in them which you (and I) will want to observe. I’m joyful I bought this location, along with some of their other megapacks. Obvious, it duplicates some of the PD titles I already have, but in most cases the quality of the Mill Pond titles is better than the Alpha, Like Chest or other crude cost DVD distributor’s titles. If you are nit picky on having the highest quality, stick to regular “studio releases”. If you want to peep some highly intelligent features most studios have forgotten about, and can live with spliced and scuffed films, try one of the Mill Pond 50 movie megapacks!

The Porsche 356 could be the very first Porsche creation auto
also it was marketed from 1948 by means of 1965. Toyota center caps Although a lot of
contemplate Porsche 64 as becoming the very first auto developed
from the German company, the 64 was by no means mass-produced
also it was only a drivable test-mule. The 364 was developed by
Ferdinand Porsche and his son, Ferry Porsche, fashioned by
Erwin Komenda and its engine functions derived within the
Volkswagen Beetle, deigned by Mr. Porsche Senior.
The models offered had been to begin with coupe, cabriolet (luxury
convertible) after which roadster (a stripped down convertible).
Prior to becoming withdrawn in 1965, it went through several
changes. Essentially the most desirable versions were 356 Carrera
(often marketed for effectively above $150,000), Super 90 and Speedster.
Inside late 50`s, the original promoting selling price for any Porsche was
$4,000.
In 1954, Max Hoffman, the only importer of Porsches into
United States required a more affordable cost, racier version for that
American marker. Consequently, the company designed 356
Speedster that became a fast hit thanks to the low, raked
windshield (easily detachable for weekend racing), bucket seats,
and minimal folding best. Nowadays, this vehicle is nevertheless quite
appreciated as it is sold for above $100,000 also it has been used
in a number of films, including 48 Several hours, its sequel – One more 48
Hours and Top Gun. In 1957, the manufacturing of Speedster
peaked at 1,171 cars. In 1959 it was replaced through the Convertible
D design, which featured a taller, additional practical windshield,
glass side windows, and a lot more comfy seats.
12 months following year or so, the basic shape of Porsche 356 remained the
very same and was easily acknowledged and remarked, despite the fact that
alterations were made, specifically inside the mechanical location. Coupe
and cabriolet models have been produced each and every yr up to 1965,
using the last 356B Roadster designed in early 1963. The final model
construct was 356 C that featured disc brakes as well as the most
powerful pushrod motor Porsche so far: the 95HP SC.
Within the 12 months that Porsche released 911, 1964, Porsche 356 manufacturing
peaked at 14,151 automobiles. Even now, the firm continued to sell the
356C in North America as a result of the end of 1965 like a lower-cost
vehicle. When the customers complained the value for 911 was
as well high (almost twice the cost in the 356), Porsche started out
creating the 912, utilizing the 356 engine. The 912model was
sold between 1965 and 1969.
56 many years after the beginning in the production, Sporting activities Auto
International named 356C quantity ten on the list of Top Sporting activities
vehicles with the 60′s. These days, the 356 is often a respected auto between the
collectors, since it stood the test of time. Globally, thousands of
356 owners maintain the tradition, preserving their motors and
driving them regularly.

This review refers to the Columbia Tristar 1/98 release of the DVD edition of “Glory”….

There are many fair reviews of “Glory” to be found here. I feel the same method about this improbable film, and after touching on the legend I would like to talk about this DVD release(contemplate above) which is an outstanding quality and pleasurable value.
“Glory” is an exceptional film. A legal yarn of the Civil War that is both touching and inspirational. It depicts the chronicle of the first dark unit from the North to be trained and actually go into battle. Led by their very empathetic but very young Colonel(played brillantly by Matthew Broderick), the 54th Regiment endures many hardships felt not only by being soldiers of this devastating war but as African Americans as well.Their spirit, pride and tears along the device, is projected in this film by these improbable actors in a device that will design you feel all the wretchedness and pride that they felt.

The cast includes Morgan Freeman as the Sergeant who is the motivating force slow the soldiers. His performance is stirring. Denzel Washington, awarded Best Supporting Actor by Oscar for his role as the runaway slave looking for a home will travel you to tears(or at least do a lump in your throat, which remains throughout), and Andre Braugher’s smile and tenacity will grab you and preserve you.The cinematography and sound(both also honored by Oscar) are delicate.Beautifully directed by Edward Zwick it is a war myth that is more than action, it is one you won’t soon forget.
Often, the different DVD editions wind up on the same product page. You may have found yourself on the page of the “Special Edition” of Glory. That is the 2 disc edition with lots of special features. If these are considerable to you in a DVD than that is the one you should probably go with. However, if you really worship this film, but don’t want to exhaust as powerful for all the extras, this edition is identified by ASIN:0800177967. It is half the label of the “Special Edition”,and is a glorious transfer as well. You have the choice of viewing it in the modern widescreen(1.85:1) or a plump veil version. The portray is pleasing, curious, crisp and natty. Colors spectacular. Depending on your place up the sound options are 5.1(Digital Dolby) or 2-channel surround.I watched it in the 5.1 and was very impressed. All the sounds of the Civil War were obvious and clear. The music unbelievable. It may be viewed in Spanish or French and has subtitles in English, Spanish and French also.
Whatever edition you settle, this a a film that is a blooming addition to your DVD collection. It is one that will be watched again and again. Thank you and delight in…..Laurie
Being a Civil War reenactor, as a group we tend to be very skeptical of the historical movies that hollywood provides.Glory is probably the only movie that almost every reenactor liked and sung the praises for. Glory stands out as a masterpiece of this dreadful time in the nations history. The cast was outstanding. Broderick is entirely convincing in his role as the idealistic young Colonel Robert Gould Shaw who commanded ONE of the first all murky units of the Civil war. Morgan freeman captures the persona of the “wise, weak seargeant” that is a classic motif of the war movie genre. However to me the actor who steals the present is without a doubt Denzel Washington. Washington gave even us rebs someone to appreciate(even as he was taking down 2 and 3 rebs at a time) as he went from the exasperated, rebellious young private(and for grand reason) to the stunning soldier.

The position of the movie is consistent, and came across as a right Epic to the audience, and not unprejudiced a lecture. The film captured the extremely racist attitudes of the time, and the assert hell that the characters went through to overcome it. Also the earn was vast, especially the final climatic scene for the attack on Battery Wagner. When Shaw is killed by Confederates, the derive picks up with a perfect tune as the 54th makes their final assault. But most importantly the movie does not bore the average viewer like Gettysburg did with its hours of talk. The movie takes a very satisfactory record, throws in some mammoth characters, and follows it to a T. There is no wasted scene in Glory(which is more then we can say for other Civil war attempted movies) . This made it a joy for both Civil War buff and regular viewer alike.
Now for the mountainous sticking point. Historical accuracy. To this the movie scores a rather well salvage. Certain the final battle was not 100 percent good, and even the earliar skirmish in the woods(known in the war as the Battle for Sol Legare Island) . But this movie was not a documentary. Its goal was not to give a blow by blow history of the 54th… fair to divulge their general “record”. With that intent, the movie greatly lived up to its accolades for its accuracy. The battle scenes were outstanding and gave war its “hellish” opinion that was absent in Gettysburg to ample degree. Only Private Ryan beats this movie in its execute at showing the viewer a taste of War.
Glory has also been arguable the most influential Civil War movie of all time. Tens of Thousands of people who had never picked up a Civil war book in their life, became crooked on this time period from Glory. That will perhaps be one of its finer legacies. How many african Americans(and Americans in general) became aware for the first time of those Blacks who wore a uniform in the Civil War from this movie. Countless. How many people do not know that honored legacy now that Glory has advance out. Very few.

Move over Gettysburg, GWTW, and all the other “attempts” at a Civil war movie. Glory will probably never be topped in this genre. The best!!

If you have a child who loves the zoo.. then this is the video for you. My son loves going to the zoo and he enjoys Barney music so this was a perfect video. I wasn’t definite if this video had actually LIVE zoo animals or if they were going to consume pretend ones… this is the sincere stuff! You perceive Elephants, Hippos, Lions and so considerable more. It felt like you were really at the zoo. Barney, B.J. & Baby-Bop took you on the zoo fling from starting out by buying you a tag to getting you a drink of lemonade to enormous info. about the animals and let’s not forget about the Barney animal songs. It is a seize you won’t be disappointed with.. My 10 & 8 yrs olds stare it along with my 5 yr conventional!!
My 16 month primitive granddaughter loves Barney but the only Barney video she would recognize was “Whine and Dance with Barney”. We bought other Barney videos that she wouldn’t give the time of day to. When we bought “Let’s Go to the Zoo”, we figured she wouldn’t notice it either but we wanted to give it a try since she loves animals. She absolutely loves it and we witness it many, many times a day. You bag to gaze so many different animals terminate up. I know all the words to all the songs. There is impartial something about Barney, Baby Bob and BJ with all of those improbable animals. If you are not able to collect to the Fort Worth Zoo, you can witness it all on video. Simply magnificant and highly recommended. I reflect I’ll engage another in the event she wears this one out.

Raiders of the Lost Ark was a spectacular amble corpulent of eye-popping stunts and breathtaking action sequences. The second Indiana Jones film, The Temple of Doom, was a disappointment. It was a decent movie, not poor by any means whatsoever, but it couldn’t contain a candle to its predecessor. It seemed the Indiana Jones chronicles were only going to go downhill from there. Boy, was I sinful. I watched The Last Crusade in theaters befriend in 1989 and it was every bit as fun and delicious as Raiders of the Lost Ark, even an improvement in some ways. There’s considerably more character development in this film and the special effects have gotten better with enhanced technology.
The storyline reverts aid to the formula that made Indiana Jones so immense. This time, Jones (Harrison Ford) has discovered that his father, Henry (Sean Connery), has disappeared on an expedition for the Holy Grail. Indiana takes his area and, with the abet of Marcus Brody (Denholm Elliot), Sallah (John Rhys-Davies), searches for his father and the Holy Grail and must battle Nazis on the same quest.
The Last Crusade is action galore as its a non-stop and fun thrill drag. The stunts and action scenes are extraordinary, as usual.

The performances are as top-notch as ever. Harrison Ford IS Indiana Jones and Denholm Elliot and John Rhys-Davies do worthy jobs with their role. The proper standout in this film, though, is Sean Connery as Jones’ father.
The Last Crusade is an fine crowd pleaser, so survey it with an audience. To sum it up, this and Raiders of the Lost Ark are the best action films of all time.
The third installment of the Indiana Jones series,Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade,is another wonderful adventure.(it’s not as friendly as Raiders of the Lost Ark,but at least as worthy,if not better than Temple of Doom.) The film starts out in 1912 in Utah, and shows Indy as a teenager, played by River Phoenix. Then it shifts to 1938 and Indy winds up battling Nazis again, this time teaming up with his father Henry Jones(played wonderfully by THE James Bond,Sean Connery) to accept the Holy Grail.Of course Harrison Ford is tall as Indy, and the rest of the cast is very superb, too, including Alison Doody as Dr.Elsa Schneider,John Rhys Davies as Sallah,Denholm Elliot as Marcus Brody, and Julian Glover as Donovan. There’s loads of action, and the musical glean by John Williams is stout.Overall,it’s a astronomical movie and a shapely collaboration of Steven Spielberg and George Lucas.

The quote is really a quote from the movie…from father to son.

To be positive the acting in this movie is very expedient with quirky memorable characters and quotes. This will no doubt plunge into the cult gloomy comedy classic arena along with such films as Heathers and Sour Grapes to name a couple. Of course this is only my understanding.
What really endeared me to the film is Robin Williams’ character is a long time writer who has never published anything more than a couple of greeting cards. At some point in this movie he gets a spacious cosmic demolish…but as a writer I had to ask myself: Would I do the same? Would desperation to be published guide me down his path?
Maybe.
I’d highly recommend this movie to any other aspiring-to-be-published writer as it will surely become a long-lived discussion topic amongst that group.
Oh, did I mention it was filmed in Seattle?? And done in impartial a scheme that if you aren’t from Seattle you probably won’t be able to deliver.
Overall, refreshing adult-oriented humor about the woes of loving an abhorrent child at the same time as struggling through one’s hateful life.
I caught the free preview of this film on HDNET and really didn’t know what to inquire of. Robin Williams plays a writer/teacher who lives with his teenage son. He wants to be published and his poetry course is in pains of being dropped. The legend is tubby of outlandish but believable characters who are in William’s and or his son’s lives. I liked this film for being different and I found the performances to be legal and insightful.
